All the hate for Frozen. It's hard to like said movie, which I do, when everyone and their fucking mom goes on and on about how shitty it is (it's not. it ain't perfect, no, but it ain't shit either). I know tasets and all, blah blah, but it isn't a pile of steaming shit, F!S...TUMBLR.

and recently, even though I don't play teh games, the latest wank on Tumblr about some Dragon Age character, who in ONE PIECE OF CONCEPT ART WAS BROWN, turned out not to be brown for the final cut of the game (the newest one i believe) and the fandom for it is crying all sorts of fowl and calling the team who creates those games racists etc etc etc. Cause they apparently don't know how concept art works.

And the constant whining over the art direction for Sailor moon Crystal. i even saw someone say the ANIMATION was shitty. Dude, compare the "Tsuki ni kawatte, oshioki yo!!" scenes from the original to the new one...and, I'm sorry, but the new animation is smoother and a lot better. I LOVE the older anime, don't get me wrong, but the animation is far better, so far. What you are pissed about? Is the style. Get it fucking right. Of course, I'll be judging the anime truly once it actually airs, but so far, it's really smooth and I like it.

Of course, I like the silly style, too, but whatever.

Well, the style IS terrible, don't get me wrong, but just because the animation is a hair above the animation in the old show doesn't mean it's great by modern standards. In case you want me to be specific, it's mostly her hair movement that looks bad.

It didn't make a damn bit of sense in the manga. It doesn't make sense here. Who cares? It looks neat.

Yeah but the art in the manga is bad. It really seemed like they took the bad parts about it and made them like 5% worse. They REALLY shot themselves in the foot with the long ass limbs and flowing hair because it'll take more frames of animation to get the ends from Point A to Point B smoothly. It's why you tweak a style for animation, they can't all make graceful transitions. Especially when the manga art isn't that strong anyway? By slavishly mimicking it, what do you do besides hobble yourself as an animator?

I don't really get why you are so eager to defend a studio that regularly puts out sloppy work knowing that they will coast on fame and the established fan base of their properties (HMMMMMM). The clips they showed are from the FIRST EPISODE, meaning that Toei is putting their best foot forward, and THIS is the result. Apart from the first 2 episodes and the season finales, where 40% of the budget goes, there is nothing but and ocean of off-model drawings, stock footage, and obvious shortcuts stretching before us as far as the eye can see.

If you still want to defend the animation quality itself, fine. But please just watch the first episode of Soul Eater and look at the result of a studio putting actual ingenuity and polish into a adaptation of a manga. One with bad art. It's like night and fucking day.

What I saw? Looked fine. And I really don't give a shit about soul eater. I only have any issue with the eyes and we got...30 seconds of animation, most of it not even moving much. That isn't their best foot forward. So excuse me for waiting to judge until the damn thing comes out. I'm excited. You and tumblr and y'all's self righteousness can fuck off.

How were any of Scrubber's replies self-righteous? I thought they were being pretty civil.

In a topic about "Gosh I'm sick of people complaining about ___" here comes someone telling her she's wrong about this thing would be obnoxious enough without the bit about how she needs to watch some 'real anime' or something because of how wrong she is.

I commented because otakugal specifically made a point to mention people who thought the animation was bad, saying that they were confusing it with their dislike of the style. I know the difference. Especially when in the thread a few days ago about the PV being up, I was one of the only people who mentioned the animation, figuring "hey, she might be obliquely referring to comments I made, maybe I should explain myself". /in b4 OMG SO DEFENSIVE

And lol, don't get your panties in a twist. I didn't barge in here to tell you about ~real anime~ I just offered an example of what I was complaining about done right. Apparently verboten in discussion.

All of those examples have clips of better animation than what was in the SM PV??? How is that even in doubt?? Except Kill La Kill, but they were obviously trying to be mysterious.

And you clearly didn't pay attention to her post. Those PVs DO NOT show the "best of the best" in animation, as you said in your previous post. That was the fucking point og her post. And to be honest? The flow looked no fucking different than in those examples.

Sailor Moon Crystal looks fucking fine so far. Goddamn.
