tumblr killing LJ. No, people on LJ are killing LJ. Nobody posts/comments anymore, and it's a vicious cycle. Rectify that, problem solved.

Gonna rant about your logic, so skip this if you don't care/don't want to hear it.

It doesn't really work that way. People aren't commenting because they're not there or not interested and that's because the platform isn't lending itself for that with the server issues and people preferring the alternatives.

You have to have events or communities that draw people enough to make accounts or use their own one. People already there spamming more comments isn't going to change anything.

I'm still over there to some extent, and I actually haven't noticed as many server difficulties for some time, though they still happen now and again. It's not like when the whole site crashed for days at a time every other week for a while there.

I agree, though I'd suggest LJ's staff did a good job killing LJ. Every change, usually useless or stupid, would result in more waves of people swearing it off and going to Dreamwidth. Of course, many of them didn't really stick on Dreamwidth, it didn't quite catch on the way LJ did. But they did leave LJ.

I left LJ because I got fed up with the changes, too. And the staff's obsession with that stupid ONTD community, and all of its wretched spinoffs (ontd_political and so on)

what is the stupid ontd community? I've been chilling in my own little corner of lj and never really come out.

It is the exact opposite of the fun kind of stupid.

It's a celebrity gossip site with an aggressive hive mind mentality and self-important people who are mostly unable to form a coherent sentence and jump at every opportunity to display their blazing hypocricy.
