nah, a lot of people find this annoying, which is why good mods tag posts accordingly so you can see only what you want to see.

I don't like it either. Or when like...a Tom Hiddleston blog starts posting stuff from other fandoms. That is not what I followed you for! ಠ_ಠ

I agree, but I do know that sometimes people do accidentally post on their fandom blogs not realizing they're not logged into their personal journal. And readers of the blog can be so polite that they never point it out. Three months later the mod goes "ACK! I'm sorry about all the non-fandom stuff, I got my accounts mixed up!"

I agree. I will unfollow any fy or secrete blog where the mods get too personal. Put that shit on your own blog.

[personal profile] peablossom 2014-06-10 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
IA. There's a Texts From blog that I stopped following bc it got too full of personal posts.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-10 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I find it annoying too. I'm there for the fandom, not the mod's personal life. If I cared about that, I would be friends with them.

I agree, leave the personal stuff for the personal blogs.

It annoys me too.

Nah, I agree. If I'm following a blog that's specifically dedicated to a fandom, then that's what I'm expecting posts of, not the mod's personal stuff. Just make a personal blog...or a personal/fandom blog, or whatever.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-10 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree. I unfollow themed blogs that post too much personal shit. If they want to post that kind of stuff it's their own choice, whatever, but I'm not going to follow a blog like that.

It's for things like this that tags (or posting entirely in the tags) are very useful.

I don't mind myself.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-10 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean, I think it makes sense, coming from a DW/LJ perspective. Posting personal posts on a themed blog would be like making a completely off-topic post to a community instead of your journal... It's basically broadcasting your personal issues/thoughts/stuff to a semi-captive audience, which you've built up by having an interesting themed comm. That said, it personally doesn't bother me at all; I just can see how it would bother someone else, especially anyone used to the concepts of on-topic and off-topic posting.

[personal profile] ibbity 2014-06-10 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugh, this annoys me too. I followed your blog to see stuff about it's stated THEME, not about your personal life and problems, and honestly I don't care if I sound like a jerk to say it - you can talk about that stuff on your personal blog or somewhere else, but this is supposed to be about a specific thing!

(Anonymous) 2014-06-10 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I feel you. I don't run a themed blog, but it is centered mostly on a certain fandom and I know that's why most of my followers are there...so every time I make a personal post I tag it 'personal nonsense' so if people don't want it they can blacklist it easily. Heck, if someone doesn't want to see my personal stuff I don't want them seeing it either! Blacklists are everyone's friend.

I don't think you're the odd man out on this one. It's not really about these blogs being "professional;" it's about them being about what they profess to be about. If a blog that I follow starts veering wildly off the topic that interests me, then yeah, I'm gonna bow out.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-10 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
If it's only an occasional post I'm fine with it, but on the whole I agree with you.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-11 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
I 100% agree with you. If too much personal crap gets posted, I'll unfollow.

[personal profile] ex_mek82 2014-06-11 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, you're not the only one. I feel the exact same way. It's why I made a new fanblog of mine (for a Star Wars character) a completely separate account, so that way there's no chance of mispostings and the temptation to go off the tracks.

[personal profile] diet_poison 2014-06-11 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
nah, you're not odd and it's not weird that you care about this. It would bug me too - it's not a personal blog.

[personal profile] tamabonotchi 2014-06-11 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
I understand, op. I run a fuckyeah blog and I keep it separate from my main blog unless I have my own relevant content to post to it. I actually don't really get why would people post personal stuff to a fuckyeah blog..? Either you keep two different blogs (which isn't that hard) or you personal blog holds all of your interests but that shouldn't use comm-type name.

I think I agree; I mean, occasionally posting tidbits of your life is fine, but if you advertise yourself as a such and such blog, that's what people are going to expect.

Plus it's not like you can't have a personal blog and a specific one.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-11 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
I am so with you, anon. I follow a few food blogs for the recipes. I had to drop one because the blogger kept adding homeschool content. (I am generally opposed to the homeschool movement.) Another one keeps adding running and fitness content and I'm on the edge of dropping her too.

S!B: They're just food blogs, dammit!

(Anonymous) 2014-06-11 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
I'm with ya too. I've had to drop a few Texts from [insert] blogs because the mod kept putting personal stuff in there. The occasional little bit(like, 'hey going on vacay, no updates next week!' or 'Finals, send help!' or *modest paragraph of mod's personal life*), I don't mind, but this one person, holy crap. They spent a solid *month* not post a single Text, just block post after block post of personal stuff going on in their life, with so much of the content being heavily depressing stuff.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-11 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
IA

I mean, if it's occasional then it's one thing [and I don't count "I'm not going to be posting for a while because..." - that's acceptable regardless imo], but constantly? That's a different kettle of fish.
