Nah, I love Law but even if his crew died he'd strike out on his own before being a subordinate to someone else.

This is how I feel, too. Law respects the Straw Hats, but I can't see him having the same absolute faith in Luffy as their unchallenged leader that the rest of them do. He might always be an ally, but he'll never be a crew member.

I've seen people comparing his relationship to Luffy as that of Shanks and Mihawk. I thought it was pretty accurate tbh.

Well, he'd have major competition from Bartolomeo about being the 'first' official allied crew. (Can you imagine the weepy tantrum Bartolomeo might throw if someone else gets that honor?) Probably the Happo Navy, too, and maybe some other crews from the freed competitors. But this arc definitely seems to be shaping up to give the crew a whole lot of allies, and the Heart Pirates might be among them.

ahahaha whoops I momentarily forgot about Bartolomeo. so maybe Law won't be the "first" but yeah, you have a great point about this arc overall. either way this isn't the last we've seen of Law and the Heart Pirates but not in the same sense as "we'll see Shanks again...in 600 chapters."

I can see him being a friend and ally after this, but I'd be bullshit if he joined. He's way too overpowered. Like.. intensely overpowered. The guy cut an island in half. I know they're all rising in power as the series progresses, especially post-Time Skip, but it would be overkill to have someone of his caliber readily available. Doflamingo might've wiped the floor with him recently but applied correctly and he's nae invincible.
'I switched the bullets with snow, it's cool'
'I electrocuted you with my imaginary defibrillator and then knocked your heart out and stomped on it'
'I swapped your guns with bombs'
*BODY PART TORNADO*
Every enemy after this would have to be ultra amazeballs to give the Strawhats any trouble after Law joined.

Never mind, I'd really prefer another woman join. It's a Strawhat sausage fest as it is.

What I noticed is that he's better against groups or long-range fighting. Doflamingo alone kicked his ass, and even Smoker gave him some trouble when they were fighting one-on-one.

But yeah, overpowered-ness is an issue. I think that's why Jimbei didn't join; he'd have been way too powerful, considering he's an ex-shishibukai.

On the other hand, when Robin joined she was seriously nerfed. She never uses her powers efficiently anymore. :(
