I've talked a lot about transformation before, so here's something different: I'm really into the idea of lovers sharing a dream. Two folks in a little pocket of unreality, able to share any fantasy they wish . . . There's so much potential, so many different ways it can be taken. Maybe it'll be possible at some point in the future, when technology has reached the point that thoughts can be shared directly.

There was something like that in one of Osamu Tezuka's Phoenix volumes (A Tale of the Future)! Though in that case, one of the lovers was human and the other a shapeshifting lifeform capable of immersing humans (and itself) into a dreamlike state. They're both lucid with all senses fully engaged, but only the shapeshifter can create or control the dream.

I do that sort of thing in RP quite a bit - usually based on magic/psychic ability.
