Yes, you could. You can separate two independent clauses (complete sentences) with a semi-colon. :)

The rule as I learned it is: Each side of a semicolon must be a complete and related sentence.

Correct: I like ice cream; vanilla is my favorite flavor.
Incorrect: I like ice cream; dogs go woof.
