Re: Things you'd want to yell at your fandom(s)?

Chrom and the Female Avatar, along with Male Avatar and Lucina are my prime examples.
Yes, if you do these pairings, the dynamics of the game may feel different and some scenes will change. But it's just one's own emotions that make the impression stronger/more dramatic/etc. on them, not actually the game acknowledging you married Chrom/Lucina throughout the majority of the plot and supporting you wholeheartedly.
Let me say this here that feelings of involvement and attachment are normal, especially for a game where the player stand-in can marry the guy/girl they like in this game. But I think with some people in this fandom (I will blame immaturity in the most basic sense of the word), they can't fathom the possibility where someone doesn't share their feelings, and believe their emotional responses are canonical facts.
EDIT: I forgot the inverse of why I hate the word. In a twist of horrific fate it's used against Sumia, who complain about her being the "canon" love interest to Chrom.
Re: Things you'd want to yell at your fandom(s)?
(Anonymous) 2014-06-13 05:16 am (UTC)(link)That said, I can see being annoyed by "canon" love interests--you sort of feel like the devs are telling you 'do this' and everything else is less valid for it. Maybe it's just because I'm an ME fan, and it in Mass Effect, Liara is the person it's clear the game wants you to be with.
Re: Things you'd want to yell at your fandom(s)?
Hm, I've never played Mass Effect. I didn't know it had "leanings" for certain romances, that's interesting.

Also, I'm gonna admit that learning how gameplay-wise those two pairings are not that great makes the inner demon in me smile.

Ladyboners and Chapter 11. That's why.
