(Anonymous) 2014-06-13 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)As someone who is autistic (and professionally diagnosed), I take umbrage at the word debilitating. It is lifelong, and it's not easy, but debilitating? That can happen but probably not as often as you think. People with autism can live fulfilling lives and not see their condition as debilitating. Just ask anyone involved with GRASP. You can also check out Wired.com's numerous pieces that discuss autism. I'll leave this one here since it's my favorite, but rest assured there are a lot of articles that discuss the condition, treatment and perception.
