It's mostly a general worry, since I've never gone through one of these and I have no idea how nice they'll be (especially since the real estate agency is sending someone from the cleaning company, I think, not just checking themselves). There's a small hair dye stain on the bathroom wall that I'm perfectly willing to own up to, but other than that I have no idea how thorough they'll be...

I mean, I didn't pay a deposit so I'm already prepared to pay a certain amount for a cleaning fee. I'm just terrified they're going to try and charge me over that amount, and I'll just... cry because I am not at all confrontational and this is happening in my second language.

Ah, this won't help you now but for the next apartment you get, take pictures of all the damage and such you see. Save them time stamped and if you can mail them to the apartment manager. That way they can't blame you for anything you didn't do.

I took pics of this apartment when I moved in but they're not time-stamped, I don't think. (I also took them about a week after officially moving in, which was three weeks ago...) I'm not so worried about this place, since I plan on staying here for at least 5 years and I know I won't get any money back from my deposit, but yeah. It's not like I destroyed the old apartment or anything, so I'm probably just being paranoid, but I'll be really glad when today is over.
