I ship them hardcore and pretty much agree, but at the same time...I don't want them with other people.

I want Charles to be happy (and, well, Erik too, but clearly that isn't going to happen anytime soon...or maybe ever) and for Erik not to repeatedly break his heart but that isn't how they work. Clearly they have a complicated relationship and are never going to 'get over' one another. (Even if we're talking purely platonic here.) They wouldn't even be the same people had they never met, so I 100% get shipping them. You kind of can't have one character without the other.

But, I'm hoping that DOFP will inspire more Charles/Hank. (I've already seen a few good ones, so I suppose it already has.) That pairing crossed my mind during First Class as well, but I was OTP'ing Charles and Erik so hard I didn't give it much thought. Now that they've (seemingly) lived together for a decade...well, you could do a lot with that.

(Granted, my OTP is still Charles/Erik, but because I'm awful I wish people would get on Charles/Hank set during those ten years, then have Erik come back with massive jealousy issues. Hell, as far as that goes I would be down for Charles/Logan as well, especially if it involves Charles/Erik in some way. Erik infuriated me in this film and a part of me wants to see him suffer a bit. The first thing I IM'd a friend about this movie was, "Erik is a dick. A hot dick, but a dick," and a little later I followed it up with "But I'm not even joking, I'm so damn angry with Erik, and this is stupid, HE ISN'T REAL. I want to punch him in the larynx." Fun times.)

Anyway, TL;DR: I adore them together and kind of always want them together even if I'm reading another pairing (that's just the way I work), but I understand wanting to see something different. There are other options.

Ha, man I spent so much of this movie completely conflicted on shipping terms.

Like my OTP for these stupid films is Charles/Erik(even if Erik is probably the worst choice for Charles, I love them but I wont deny it), the we had the while Hank still being there for Charles and caring for him as Charles spiraled downwards, and thus Charles/Hank feelings emerged. Then Logan turns up and shows Charles the light, or what he needs to do and I got all the fuzzy Charles/Logan feelings. AND THEN they break Erik out and him and Charles have a nice moment of (sort-of)understanding on the plane, AND THEN ERIK GOES AND FUCKS IT UP LIKE HE ALWAYS DOES, and my Charles/Logan feelings cropped up some more.

I don't need a film doing that to me. One ship is enough. I am not built to handle the emotional upheaval of switching ships so many times in two hours.

Ugh, I am right there with you on the conflicted shipping. I'm not generally a multishipper so I basically end up shipping Charles/Hank and/or Charles/Logan but in the back of my mind it's always a thing that will stop at some point in the future when Charles/Erik is ready to happen again. (And I feel like both Hank and Logan deserve better than that, but at the same time WHAT DO?! Maybe they're just friends with benefits, idk.)

Hank was so sweet, right? I loved him taking care of Charles. He was so protective and loyal. And Logan trusting Charles to look into his mind and then encouraging him, "Your best is good enough". But then he had to go and say "Someone you love" (and it really sounded like he was talking about Erik in that moment, though I know it applies to Raven as well) and that makes both ships depressing for the fact that both Hank and Logan know how much Charles loves Erik. (Damn this movie.)

My anger at Erik fucking everything up (and negl, I thought he wouldn't this time. SOMEHOW I THOUGHT HE WOULD LISTEN TO CHARLES AT THE LAST MINUTE) makes me think, "No, Charles should just get with Hank or whatever" but then Erik strides back in and they are meant for each other even if their relationship is unhealthy and I can't not ship them. They are too good together even when they aren't good for each other.

Yeaaaaah, I get you man. They both deserve so much better than that but I can't get my brain to agree on a scenario that doesn't end in tears and pain for someone.

Yessss, he was really lovely. I was kinda lukewarm on him in First Class but in DoFP we got to see more of how he's grown and being a teacher/having to keep an eye on Charles played a big part in that. Also him fighting Logan was all kinds of funny.(You could make a case for either Raven or Erik(or both) tbh and I would not think you were wrong with either).

I too was fooled into thinking that maybe this time Erik would fucking listen. That this time he wouldn't make even more of a pigs ear of things than he already has, like really Erik, sort your shit out you wanker.

Gosh, same. I know it is not a healthy relationship for either of them, but damn they there are just so many feelings between them, and just ugh. Work it out you two, just work it out.

There's always tears and pain in the X-Men universe. Always. Especially when it comes to Charles and Erik.

Aww, I've always liked Hank but I enjoyed him even more this time around. I'm glad he's being given a bigger role. He's sweet. I LOVE his scene with Logan too. And really, I loved Logan more in this film than in any previous film; he had some heartwarming scenes with Charles. It was great seeing him take on some extra responsibility and show some affection. (That's true!)

lmao, I wish I could hear these words out of James McAvoy's mouth. We are easily fooled, apparently. Or we just believe in the power of love. Considering what happened in the 'old' X-Men universe, we probably should not.

It would be nice if they eventually got their happy ending. When Logan returned to the school at the end of the film I was hoping Erik and Raven would be with Charles, but then we didn't see them so I'm not sure if they've joined forces again yet. Why can't you bastards just be happy?!
