I buy stuff second-hand a lot lately.

And I feel you on the weight loss. I made good progress (8 kg so far) but it seems like a drop in the ocean.

That's a good idea! Will keep it in mind.

I've lost...a lot (and I already look and feel like a different person), but to be what's considered normal and healthy I still need to drop somewhere near 25 pounds and it's really bumming me out because the weight isn't coming off as easily anymore. (I will be so fucking glad if I ever get to the point when I can just maintain my weight. Ugh. I want that so bad.)

(It doesn't help that every site seems to tell me a different weight is ideal. You're confusing me, internet.)

But really, anything is an improvement and you should be pleased because losing weight isn't easy or fun. Good on you for managing it!

I think you probably shouldn't listen to random sites. Every body is differenr in terms of proportion and musculature, and you should probably just stop at a weight where you're happy with he result?

And, congrats in making that much progress!

My ideal would be if food could just not be such a big deal to me, either way.

I've thought that as well, but at the same time I've always been at least a bit overweight (and a lot, in recent years) and for once in my life I'd like to just be 'healthy'. Which, okay, yea, you can be healthy and not be the exact size a doctor thinks you should be, but I guess I just don't want to hear 'you're overweight' ever again. I'm sure I'll end up playing it by ear and stopping when I like my body, but I thought it would be nice to at least have an idea of where to stop.

Are you controlling your portions? (Not sure exactly what you mean.) I'm pretty strict about portion control and it can be a debbie downer, but at the same time I love food a lot and if I don't I'll overeat.

I understand, but "healthy" isn't just one number - it's a range, and that's true for everyone. But I understand never wanting to be overweight again.


And yes - I'm doing portion control. That's the main thing I'm doing. The other thing is that, when possible, lunch is my main meal and dinner is more modest. Unhealthy snacks are out, obviously. And I try to move more.

It seems to be working so far.

I've been eating a bigger lunch, too. And I try to have a decent breakfast, then drink lots of water throughout the day so I don't get hungry. Like you, so far it's working.

Just keep at it! I'm sure you'll be fine.

Quit listening to random websites. If you want to find out what your ideal weight is, best person to talk to is probably your doctor or a nutritionist if you can get ahold of them.

Don't get down on yourself, either! Like you said, you've lost a lot of weight already. Be happy about that! Celebrate your successes!

I know you're probably right. I've always struggled with my weight though and so I just really want to be 'normal' for once. (Considering every person has a different definition of normal, I realize this is basically impossible.) But yea, maybe I should see a doc and ask them what would be good. Or just play it by ear.

Yeah, seconding other people to say talk to your doctor if you've got one. Also, there's not really one healthy weight for anybody; I'm super short and I still have something like a 25 pound range that's normal. If you gained a ton of muscle you might technically be "overweight" but not be fat, too. And stuff like bone density makes a difference. But just going by online guides can be tricky, because none of them will be tailored to you; your doctor will hopefully have a better idea of a target weight range and maybe some suggestions for getting and keeping the stubborn pounds off. And they might be able to refer you to a nutritionist. Losing a bunch of weight won't matter if you aren't getting all the nutrients you need at the same time. Good luck!

I'm not very muscly, lol, BUT I should've gained a bit by now I think. Didn't really consider that... Huh. I'll think about making an appointment with my doctor; I haven't seen him in too long. You've given me some things to think about.
