Oh I disagree. Regina's been plenty woobified and hero-fied (is that even a word?) She was able to give a true love kiss to Henry to break the curse. She was able to use light magic to defeat Zelena after Emma got her magic (temporarily) taken away. Snow of all people tells her that "you love with your whole soul, not just your heart." And if anyone thinks she isn't going to get her happy ending with Robin as soon as they off Marian somehow, I think you're in for a surprise.

I couldn't care less if people don't like Hook. But as far as I'm concerned Hook and Regina are in the same boat. Rumple I agree - he's still firmly in the amoral camp what with killing Zelena and lying to Belle about the dagger. But it seems like they put Regina rather firmly on the side of good during 3B, so I don't see why what they've done with Hook is so much worse than all of that.

Regina at least had a significant amount of time trying to redeem herself and getting others to trust her.

Um....not really? Regina made a couple of attempts at being good in season two, but it didn't really take, not until the very end.

I think season 2 was just badly written. I think the point of her arc there was supposed to be that she wanted to be good, but evil magic was addictive and then her mother returned and it was hard to resist both family and her addiction up until Henry was endangered. But the addiction angle didn't really come across well, so it ended up seeming like she was waffling when I don't think that is what the writers really meant to say.

That's possible. But my point is, both Hook and Regina did bad things in season two. And both Hook and Regina have had a fairly consistent redemption arc in season three. And while I'm not a Hook apologist, nothing he's ever done has been as bad as Regina's history (Rumple is another story but we're not talking about him right now). So if people can accept Regina being redeemed after all the blood on her hands, I honestly don't see why a redemption arc for Hook is such a stretch.
