I've both read and watched Anne of Green Gables! So good, omg.
I've always turned away from Downton Abbey but that was before I realized how much I apparently like these things so yes, I'll be watching! Especially for Maggie Smith, ah!

(Anonymous) 2014-06-14 01:33 am (UTC)(link)I'm not even like a major fan of this stuff, it's just my mum is a period-piece fangirl and has a million editions of Jane Austen and all the TV series ever so I've just absorbed it through osmosis. (me and my siblings can quote the BBC miniseries of P&P word-for-word, that's how much she's watched it.)
I gotta warn you, Pollyanna is a tearjerker as well. I didn't want to like it because of the name, and the whole "overly cheerful protagonist thing", but it pulled me in and then ripped my heart out.
OH! also similar to Pollyanna: What Katy Did, Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, and Little House on the Prairie (they're American, not British.)
