But anyway, I don't really see Phoenix/Edgeworth as strong as some people do, I guess. I don't mind the pairing, but it's never at the forefront of my mind when I'm playing. Gumshoe is my favourite, and I adore a lot of the sub-characters. Phoenix, Edgeworth and Maya are all wonderful, but I don't invest much time in them.

Anyway. I can understand that whole friends =/= lovers stance, in that, yes, it does get a little grating when people say 'they're friends? That means I can pair them!' when there really is little basis for a romantic element. That said, I do think that Phoenix/Edgeworth is one of the examples where it's quite easy to draw further depth from their interaction, where it's not unbelievable to take friendship and have it evolve into something else. There's something for fans to work with there, there is a dynamic to explore, and good for that!

It's just not as explicit as I think some people like to say, perhaps. It can get a little frustrating >:

Pretty much. I don't think it's canon by any stretch of the imagination (though Edgeworth -> Phoenix MIGHT be, but that's another story >_>) but it's one of the friendship pairings that I can honestly see the subtext and the potential for a relationship. Most Phoenix/Edgeworth fics are awful because they... well, really don't cultivate the potential as much as it NEEDS to be.

Neither of them are going to just fall into each others' laps and break down sobbing to admit their love. It has to be very carefully crafted to be believable... but in the rare cases it IS, it's great and wonderful... but there's all too little of that.

Yes, I quite agree :D I think there's plenty of potential for pairing there, but it needs to be worked with. That's not supposed to be a criticism of the pairing, so much as just the simple belief that, like you said, they're not quite ready to jump each other quite yet!

Randomly, have you ever read "One of Every Color" by croik? It's on FF.net and AFF.net (though only Ff.net is complete); it's one of the only fanfictions I return to constantly with a great deal of pleasure. (:

I have, actually. :) It's one of those that gets it right.

I'd also recommend to you "Struggling Against Gravity" by musouka and lerayl/raelle. It's ongoing but it's absolutely amazing, and as much as I love Croiky and OoEC, I honestly think Struggling is the single best P/E fic I've ever read... and it's only four chapters in.

And I liked what you said, also. I feel kind of guilty, though, 'cause the other day a friend and I RP'd GAY TIME on FS for shits and lols and giggles, and I feel like I'd be hypocritical or labeled as diehard zomg yaoi fangirl if I said anything EITHER WAY. D;

And the hell should you feel guilty? Ship what you want. Make 'em have all the buttsex you want, RP 'em as gay as you want. It's in fun and it's fucking FANDOM, it should be about enjoying yourself, not anger and hatred and being upset.

So enjoy and ship what you want, as long as you let everybody else do the exact same. 'smy fandom motto or something.

Personally, I don't ship PW/Maya. But I'm not gonna be a dick about it either.

And P/M and E/F both squick me the hell out.

But I'm friends with people who like them. I hate the pairing but I won't dislike somebody just because they ship it. That's just dumb. >_>

Gumshoe/Maggey is so damn cute. FranShoe is... it's cute, I think, but I like MagShoe and Franziska/Adrian better, so XD

And seriously? Maya/Phoenix and Edgeworth/Franziska... two of my favorite relationships in the game... platonicaly. They ADORE each other. And it's so damn cute.

Yes, not everything necessarily needs romance. That's what the OP should have said maybe, is that they're sick of "omg turning friendship into hot sexy romance" because then only the complete dupes who'd written ooc pwp crap would get all defensive while the rest of us join in one large 'oh u.'

DAMN STRAIGHT. Gumshoe is the sexiest man in that game, I gotta say. I wish I could ship me/him, but alas. The lack of a third dimension on his part makes our relationship go on the rocks. :'(

Honestly, I'm a huge fan of Gumshoe/Edgeworth (and I love Phoenix/Edgeworth too, in every sense of the relationship--I just love seeing them interact at all), but I love Maggey/Gumshoe, too. He's so cute when he has a crush. ;O;

I think this pretty much sums up how I felt about #15. (And, ironically enough, I haven't played the third game yet either.) I'm not really a huge fan of Phoenix/Edgeworth, and sometimes I feel like it gets fangirls that think it's canon too much, but...the secret just sounds like a troll. ^^;

Ohh, do you like in the UK as well? That's the only reason I haven't grabbed a copy yet - it's easy to resist buying online, but I don't think I'd be able to help myself if I saw it on a shelf!

Nope, USA. ^^; It's more because I haven't had the time lately to play video games because of school and such. I haven't even quite beaten #2 yet. (I'm on the last case of the game, though.)
