Wow, one cartoon that has powerful women of color in central roles. (Not even as the protagonist, just in important secondary roles.) It's political correctness gone mad, I tell you.

Let's all boycott Steven Universe, watch Johnny Test and pretend those whipcrack noises that happen every time a character speaks are the cracks of whips across the backs of obnoxious SJWs! Sounds like a good plan to me.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-15 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Why are you so mad?

(Anonymous) 2014-06-15 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
... Did you really just "U mad" me? Is this 2007?

(Anonymous) 2014-06-15 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I'm seriously asking why someone would be so mad and angry and frustrated about a silly secret about a stupid and mediocre Cartoon Network show. It's not healthy.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-15 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
So you did just "u mad" me.

You seem to be projecting a lot of your own feelings on my reply, since I'm not even that worked up about it. My response was mainly tongue-in-cheek.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-15 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I didn't, learn to read. And it's because you are the one projecting so hard that I'm asking why are you reacting like that.

Read your post, it's crazy. You went from OP's "tumblr pandering" to "racism, sexism, SJW". You just assumed that OP is a piece of shit based on their dislike of this show. There are some issues there.

Calm your tits, it's just a stupid kids show. No need to overreact.

gonna agree with ayrt here. You're projecting or something, because holy shit.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-15 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Where am I projecting? That anon said that OP has a problem with strong women of color (that's an accusation of racism and sexism), I don't see it in the secret.

When I read the sceret, I imagined OP was talking about silly things like Tumblr's obsession with poc, trans characters, agenders, asexuals, etc.

I do not know if OP has a problem with women of color, but I think the notion that it's "tumblr pandering" when a show does have a woman of color in a main role is silly*, and that was what I thought ayrt was trying to say as well, only with more heavy sarcasm. Whether they are racist/sexist I do not know, but they did say the show was tumblr pandering.

You just assumed that OP is a piece of shit based on their dislike of this show.

^ that kind of came out of left field. like woah

*this may not be the reason the show is tumblr pandering, of course. I do not know.

You are reading way more into my words than is actually there. I literally made a joke about Johnny Test. To be explicit, I genuinely don't see how having women and POC in central roles on a children's show equates to "Tumblr pandering" unless you make the assumption that writing about women and POC at all is something only a Tumblr SJW would want to do in the first place. By that measure, 99% of anime is Tumblr pandering.

But whatever helps you feel vindicated, I guess.

ayrt didn't sound mad to me, fwiw.

DA

Same.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-15 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe it was just me, but I don't know, I sensed a lot of projecting and butthurt. Same with a couple of other comments in this sceret, like they are overreacting to this topic. I didn't understand why when it's just a silly criticism.

(Anonymous) 2014-06-16 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
u trollin

(Anonymous) 2014-06-16 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
I always wonder why people read any disagreement or sarcasm and go "Woah, you're getting too mad about this--it's silly!"

It's like people forgot what actual "mad" looks like, and just claim any sort of dissent is "mad" so it can be more easily dismissed.
