audiobook recs?

(Anonymous) 2014-06-15 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I just joined audible since they're doing a 3-months-for-$6 thing and there's a ton to choose from and I don't know where to start! Anyone have any recs?

The only audiobooks I've ever listened to were Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy read by Stephen Fry and The Graveyard Book read by Neil Gaiman. I looked at the second HHGTTG book but a lot of reviews say Martin Freeman's reading is awful so I am hesitant.

For genres, I tend to enjoy genre fiction and non-romance YA.

Rivers of London as read by Holdbrook-Smith sounds like something you'd enjoy! It's urban fantasy with a nice, well-developed, endlessly curious PoC protagonist. And I do think that the voice actor does a brilliant job.

I love the voice of the woman who reads the Young Wizards books by Diane Duane. She does all the dialogue in character and manages to make everyone distinct.

Oh dang! That would be a really cool way to re-experience those books. Time to hit up the library! Thank you, anon! ♥

Patricia C. Wrede's Enchanted Forest Chronicles! They do full cast audio, and it's so much fun! :D
