It's one thing to make canonically white characters out to be POC* (and it's offensive with respect to SNK because it's white people telling a Japanese author he's wrong about his own characters), but to say you don't like POC characters/interracial relationships being depicted in canons, due to a kneejerk reaction against a fringe group of fandom weirdos on Tumblr, is pretty fucked up.

*I actually have no idea why you're tying the Ymir thing to being specifically Ymir/Christa related? Like, I'm pretty sure people would do that to Ymir even if Ymir/Christa weren't a canon ship.

But I didn't say that. There are several interracial couples that I ship.

Look, throughout this thread you're ascribing "Tumblrishness" as a negative attribute, describing all of these traits of the cartoon (presence of POC, fat characters, interracial relationships) as Tumblr-pandering attributes, then weaseling out of saying you consider those as negative attributes by saying "I just said it panders to Tumblr". It's deeply intellectually dishonest.

You're kidding, right? You sound more like you belong on F!S's idea of tumblr than most real people on tumblr.

It's dumb for anyone to tell an author they're wrong about their own characters because authors are the ones in charge of their characters, offensive as they may end up being, but authors telling a story set in another part of the world from where they live (with SNK, a Japanese author setting it either somewhere around Germany or an obvious AU equivalent) are still going to get things wrong, and people who know better are going to point it out. For your further consideration, Japanese people in Japan aren't an oppressed minority, and you can't claim everyone making Ymir a POC is white just because it makes your argument convenient.

"Know better"? Do you realize how full of yourself you sound? And yes, I'm going to stick to my guns on the fact that the people who racebend SnK characters are being offensive and doing it because they're arrogant know-it-alls who think they can tell a Japanese author what's "more progressive" for his own damn canon. Case in point: The fact that people keep racebending THE ONE CANON JAPANESE CHARACTER. (http://faun-songs.tumblr.com/tagged/mikasa%20ackerman)
