Interestingly, I had a problem switching l and r when I was young, then got over it, then I took a Spanish course and learned to make the Alveolar Flap sound, which brought it back. Nowadays if I do slip up it's random between l, r, and ɾ.

Hey, me too! I had an r/w issue when I was little, and cleared it up, but then after I learned Japanese the alveolar flap started screwing all sorts of things up. Now I sometimes have problems with r/w, and r/l, and l/w... though ɾ only happens when I'm speaking Japanese, thank god.

...damn alveolar flap.

Japanese only has the alveolar flap anyway, so maybe you should learn Japanese ;)

I've never understood why they chose to write it as r, it sounds more like l to me...
