(Anonymous) 2014-06-16 02:39 am (UTC)(link)So what I'm getting is that people have decided to have such a hate-on for Tumblr that anything that involves having more than a single token Different Person (or worse, people who are Different in more than one way) is dismissed as being SJW-y or something?
I mean...is the show actually bad? And if it is bad, is it bad for those reasons in particular? Does having characters of different ethnic and/or body types work to the show's detriment?
Everything that isn't the media-norm feels "forced." Because we're pretty used to seeing shows with certain kinds of characters and only a certain kind of variety. I just don't get why it's a problem unless it impacts the writing in some way.
