I thought this too at first, but...honestly, a fandom saturated with either one would be pretty unpleasant, and I don't know which would be worse. Well, one would be more anger-inducing straight up, the other more wearing on my nerves over a long period of time, I guess...

I wouldn't mind at first. It would be interesting to see what it's like to be called sexist and homophobic instead of oversensitive. For all the horror stories about Tumblr, I have never had that happen to me before.

I've been called both. the first is more hurtful, the second more frustrating. (but the first coming from an obvious SJW would probably just be eyeroll-worthy. Or a badge of honor.)

I'd take the teenage boys, personally. From my experiences, they're less likely to target a specific person/group of people, less likely to spread nastiness (i.e. try to convince others to hate someone they don't like), and less likely to hold a grudge.

But online block features have spoiled me, so I would probably just nope the hell out of either one.

Ooooohhh I don't know, the whole Anita Sarkeesian thing (or any other female gamer/atheist/internet personality who steps out of line, a la dickwolves) debunks the "less likely to spread nastiness (i.e. try to convince others to hate someone they don't like)" and "less likely to hold a grudge" hypothesis.

Oof, maybe I've just been lucky in my encounters, then.

have you ever played MMOs?

Honestly? Dealing with teenagers would be preferable, if only by dint of the fact that for all that they love to smacktalk, if you give as good as you get you can usually shut them up, which usually makes their shark-pack mates back off too.

(Knowing something about the way group-social behavior works among teens and early-20s males does help.)

The thing about smack talking back is you can see which ones are really willing to take what they dish (and that raises my respect for them and depending on their personality I can actually really start to enjoy being around them) and which ones are just little boys hiding behind big words (and they're more likely to shut up once you return fire).

And then there are the ones that just get really vile. :|

They would both suck. I'd take the teen boys though. I could pretend to be one of them and gain their trust.

lol, that might be a fun experiment (except I'm a horrible liar and wouldn't be able to contain myself if they were saying really nasty things)

if you ever do it tho you should share your results
