I literally had no idea that clinking on glasses to get the bride and groom to kiss during the reception was even a tradition until I went to my cousin's wedding a couple weeks ago. I didn't even know about it when I got married back in 2011. Then again, my husband and I gave 99% of wedding traditions the finger when planning our wedding. I only tossed a bouquet to appease my mom, and my husband and I were willing to do a first dance. Every other tradition, though, was excluded. It made being a guest at a more traditional wedding somewhat awkward.
