It's actually pretty fascinating seeing what kinds of memes, falsehoods and sheer absurdities people I know end up sharing. Every once in a while it's too much to stomach (like seeing my US citizen friends share things from Britain First), but most of the time I get new research material that allows me to maintain my researching skills while verifying/debunking things that get passed around.

That's such a black and white response. I'm not going to de-friend someone I've known and loved since elementary school (I was a bridesmaid in her wedding, even!) just because I don't give a shit about her new baby. I don't like babies, period. I still want to know what's up with her, as a human being, so I'm going to keep her as a friend. But naked babies in the bath are only adorable to a select few people and I am not one of them, so I filter those posts out.
