Re: Drabbles
I write a lot of drabbles, usually drabble sets.
For me, the appeal is the same as for poetry. There's such an economy of form that every single word must be precise and deliberate and utterly meaningful.
My favorite drabble ever is the following:

As I say in my rec of this drabble, Drabbles are beautiful things, y'all. They are the poetry of fandom--these little slices of story and experience in which every single word is precise and exact and exquisitely chosen. They are paradox by which the strictures and limitations of a form become so freeing; their very economy engenders the creativity that the form should limit. This is one of the best drabbles I've ever read. 100 words and every single one cuts straight down to the bone.
Also, 100 words exactly. No exceptions.
