8. *sigh* I sort of agree with half of this secret. It is annoying when SW fans dismiss the EU and refuse to have anything to do with it, lumping the more ridiculous plots/authors with everything else. Although, I can understand refusing to read LotF as opposed to some of the earlier books, so maybe I don't agree after all? I really don't like what Del Rey has done to many of the characters.

Which brings me to the part that I disagree with. Obviously you have a right to be annoyed by people that take something seriously that you apparently don't. But I think that some people just choose to take certain aspects of their fandom more seriously than others, and that should be okay. I can poke fun at many of the things in the SW Expanded Universe, certainly. But that doesn't mean I can't delve into the psychological aspects of the characters, their personal growth, actions, etc. I enjoy doing that, especially when I get a chance to discuss it with the authors. There's a difference between serious debate about what goes on in the books (and yes, that might include some complaints. I'm not going to agree with everything that happens, particularly not in LotF.) and insisting that everyone agrees with you or takes it as seriously. Anyway, I just don't quite understand the frustration about something that kind of varies from person to person.


33. The wording in this secret is confusing to me. I take it the OP likes Carter? I think it's because it says people should apologize for saying she's not so bad, which made me think that the OP did think she was bad. But I think I understand now. They're saying a statement like that is too little, too late.

Anyway, while I risk inciting the rage of the Carter-hating anon, I've always enjoyed Amanda Tapping's character. I honestly don't understand how she's a "whore," and no, I really don't need to hear the argument for it, I'm familiar with it, thank you. She's a strong, complex woman who started out in the program having to prove herself in a world of men and eventually came into her own as a leader and friend. She's brainy without being relegated to the role of the girl who solves things and then gets left out while the men have all the fun. I don't hate Weir or anything, but to be honest she has always kind of bored me. I can't help that, it's just true. I liked her a lot in the episode "The Real World," but that's about it. That doesn't mean that I would go around ranting about how awful she is, it's just that she isn't all that engaging to me. However, I really like Teyla. She's one of my favorite characters on Atlantis.
