The movie is basically the first book for half of the movie and a mutant mashup of the other 5 in the second half. It's a mess. She is much more of a duplicitous, untrustworthy and largely intentionally mysterious and aggravating person in the comic. King Manchild Scott himself admits at one point it'd all be a dealbreaker if he was just a tiny bit less infatuated.
