Honestly? For some fandoms, I agree. I won't touch the female sides of the Silent Hill or Resident Evil fandoms anymore after I tried to start a discussion about peoples' favorite SH character and it turned into fangirling over slash shipping. It's SILENT FUCKING HILL. I want to talk about the psychological horror and which protagonist was the most fucked up and the best strategies to beat Homecoming on Nightmare mode without it being derailed into a conversation about dicks touching.

Anon I will disappoint you so badly xD, unless you know other Silent Hill dwellings than tumblr or livejournal. Most of those on the slashy part are dudes :D . In about 2007 there was lots of teenaged guys around writing cheesy slash fics. Women actually wrote more action-oriented stuff. There were probably some non-binary people or those who weren't identified.

Yes, I'm also a dude who like to talk about dick touching and is sad this fandom is dying out :( . Never been part of Resident Evil though.

My experience when going to a male dominated space to discuss anything like SH usually results in the dudes talking about which female character they want to fuck or how unrealistic Heather is because hurr women can't be competent and not less terrified than male characters.
