Pretty much this. (Though out of the people who do specify gender, I see more women. Who knows about everyone else.)

I guess it also depends on what you mean by fandom, though? Like...are we talking about people who read or write fanfic, make graphics or art, or does just discussion count? Because in fandoms like Metal Gear forums seem to be full of guys, but I think there's a decent amount of female fans on tumblr and other sites.
