To be fair, she's not a technical Disney Princess, the brand.

Eilonwy wasn't a main character in her movie. Her movie did VERY poorly in the box office and is general considered a bad movie. So I wouldn't hold her to the same standard. Plus, she lacks most of the 'princess' qualities little girls like: she's not a teenager or adult, she has no real romance, she doesn't sing or look beautiful or wear beautiful dresses. Rapunzel, however, has all the traits of a Disney Princess that makes little girls love them.

I don't see how they are? Those little superficial traits are big part of the marketing behind the Disney princess lineup.
