As awful as Bella is, she wins minor props over Ramona for actually being an active character at some point. Ramona is completely passive and waiting for her man to fight for her/save her.

Bella does actually do some stuff, questionable as it is. She chooses to go to try to save her mum, she goes to Rome to try to save Edward, she chooses to keep her baby etc. She at least moves the terrible plot along rather than just having the other characters revolve around her.
