Good luck. Best wishes.

Anything at all that works is a good thing, no matter what it is. Even if it's American Dad. (I've never actually seen the show, but I am aware of what it is.) I'm happy for you for getting help, even if you did it because of the show.

Sometimes the "smallest" things wind up being what saves us. Rock on, OP!

I love secrets where media helps people make good choices or get on a better path. Best of luck, OP. ♥

That was such a good episode, though. Good luck, OP. You'll be in my thoughts.

Cartoon or no that image is pretty striking. I'm glad it made you want to seek help, OP. Hopefully things will look up for you soon. In the meantime, good for you for realizing you have a problem and wanting to change. That in itself can be difficult and scary.

Whatever helps, OP! I've seen the episode you're referring to and I thought a lot of it was surprisingly realistic. I mean, okay, it wasn't the most sensitive way to tackle the subject because at the end of the day it's still American Dad but I like that they didn't really make the fact that a man had an eating disorder into the joke. His family was genuinely horrified by his condition and really did want to get him help and I thought the way they had him reveal his anorexia was pretty on the mark (for those who haven't seen it, throughout the first half of the episode, Stan appears to be gaining a lot of weight while his family makes remarks about them being worried about his weight and he eventually gets suspended from his job because he's incapable of handling the physical demand. When his family finally forms an intervention to talk to him about his eating problem, the camera pans out and shows that he's actually incredibly skinny and that he was only being drawn as getting fatter because Stan's body image had become so warped and that's how he thought of himself.). If I recall correctly, the episode actually won an award for its portrayal of anorexia so it seems like you weren't the only one affected by it. Say what you want about American Dad, but I think this episode is one that really showed the difference between American Dad and Family Guy which would have been way more likely to have the joke be "lolol Peter (or whoever) has a "chick" disorder". In the latest seasons at least, maybe not if it had happened in the first couple.

I wish you the best of luck, OP
