I doubt they gave you legit event pokemon. A legit nicknamable Shaymin would have required catching a wild one using Oak's Letter back in 2009 in Platinum, which I don't think someone would have saved for that long.

I hope they used Pokedit or Pokecheck to make those Pokemon, because with that attitude, you don't deserve the real deal.

Not even Platinum, anon. More like Diamond and Pearl, they fixed that bug by Platinum. I've still got my Oak's-Letter-walked-through-walls-to-Flower-Paradise Shaymin in Pearl, actually- caught September 1st 2007.

There was a very short wi-fi event for Platinum that gave you a legit Oak's Letter. If you used the DP exploit, the Shaymin isn't tagged as "Fateful Encounter," preventing it from changing formes.

I've asked people to borrow their pokemon briefly so that I can complete my dex.

And I always ALWAYS give them back.

I'm still trying to complete my dex, and a lot of people have generously allowed me to borrow some of their more rare pokemon, a shiny shaymin in fact!

I'm still working on it, and it's one of my big goal things, but I think I have a legit mew on my Soul Silver that my girlfriend got for me... I just don't know how to get it off of SS. :/

Is this a good time to brag about my Mew? I don't really care about legitimacy or not, but some random person that was "online" at the same time as me offered it in a trade (I traded it for a Shiny legendary that I got on the GTS, which I assume was hacked or cloned or whatever because I got it for a really normal Pokemon lol).

I'm new to the newer Pokemon games so I have no idea how to go about getting rare Pokemon, so yay.
