I joined a fandom and quickly made friends with someone who's been in the fandom from the beginning. Later on I realized that this person isn't just a fandom veteran. My new BFF is a major BNF. I'm not posting this as a secret because I'm not starstruck enough for it to affect our friendship or jealous enough for it to consume me, it's just kind of a "wow" thing that happened.

Except I became friends with them because they were a really un-shitty person? They welcomed me immediately and even helped me with some life issues, way before I found out how big they are in the fandom.
