Ok, I get you. Tbh, now that you mention it, I do think a Hans face-character would be interesting; I wonder how they'd play him. I suppose part of it has to do with how the kids are meant to perceive him, no? If he's too nice it might be kind of confusing for young children...

I think for me it's not so much that I was suspicious of him from the start as that when he did his about-face, I was like "oh, one of those". He reminded me a bit of Mother Gothel in the pretending-to-care department, but I did like how she was presented as far more emotionally manipulative, and her pretense of caring went way further. With him, he never cared, so he's just another straightforward manipulative guy who wanted power.

I think that a Hans face-character might try to play it as both: "smug" when he's around adults, but "sweet" with little children. It might confuse some of them, but I think a lot of kids would remember that Hans only "pretends" to be nice. I mean, when Gaston face-characters meet children that love him, he kind of turns into a sweetheart. I saw this one little girl give him a big hug and say "I love you, Gaston!" and he just hugged her right back and said, "I love you, too!" I can imagine face-character Hans trying to win little "princesses" hearts, being sweet to them and asking if they come from a beautiful kingdom. He might even be EXTRA nice to little girls dressed as Anna, because that would be really cute.

As cute as that Gaston story is, I'm really sad to hear he didn't respond by hugging her back and saying:

"I love me too!"
