The next chapter should be out soon, but I'm afraid we might not see what's been of him yet.

I am in denial about his chances of dying, though.

If anything I'm kind of suspecting Soubi will die instead. >.>;;

My reasoning is that Kio has already fulfilled his purpose in the story--up until now, he's been Soubi's only friend. He's also urged Soubi to break free from his dependency on Seimei. As we can see from the most recent chapters, Soubi has now outright defied Seimei and will probably become his own person by the end of the arc, so... Kio's purpose will pretty much be gone at the end of this storyline, which I assume to be the end of the series, as well. Additionally, there was no reason for Kouga Yun, as an author, to bring Kio to the Academy unless she plans to do something dramatic with him (he can't fight, so he can't be in any possible showdown, and he was denied entry into the building). He's already been taken out by Nisei, with a hell of a lot of foreshadowing that they're not done with him yet. Things are not looking good, sadly ;~;

Anyway, if Kio dies, his death will actually do a lot more for the story than him being alive would. I mean, if Seimei and Nisei end up murdering the only person who's ever been Soubi's friend, I highly doubt Soubi and Ritsuka will stand for that.

Likewise, Soubi being the one to die instead would be an odd choice for Kouga to make, given the story's themes up to this point. It's all about redemption and becoming free and breaking damaging bonds and going against destiny. Soubi ultimately becoming his own person will mean absolutely nothing if he dies right after he accomplishes this.

It's common in Kouga's Yun work to go getting rid of all "corrupted" things, incluiding characters and specific ideas, while it's close to the end.

I would think Seimei and Nisei have no reason to go out of their way to get rid of someone like Kio when everyone relevant to 'em is right there.

Though on the other hand... it's true that Kio dying would do a lot to the story and push it towards a positive resolution. ;_; BUT WHAT ABOUT MY DENIAL. DENIAL PLZ.

I'm worried he's gonna die, but the way I've figured it, it should be Soubi? EITHER WAY, THIS ISN'T GOING TO BE GOOD.
