Not at all, I think it was rather silly in retrospect, but back then it seemed like a big deal.

For awhile I was genuinely convinced that the Internet police would know I had done a Bad Thing and would come to my house to arrest me for lying about my age to look at porn on the Interwebs.

OP here: with me it was partly I was worried I'd get the author into trouble. I think I read a disclaimer once about "please don't read if you're a minor" and really took it to heart.

But partly also porn seemed a big deal, which seems so silly now.
