In my theisis project, I am trying to do a population model with parasitism included. I managed to get it to the stage where infected individuals can die without making the local populations go into negative numbers!
Now to work out how to make the infected reproduce without infecting the entire next generation.

Add genetic resistance ie. sickle cell anemia models for malaria resistance?

The thing is, each of the infected (initially 1% of the entire population) has a 50% chance of infecting every offspring, or at least it should. Instead those 1% manage to infect even children that are not theirs, even though there is supposed to be no chance they can infect anything that isn't one of their kids.

...that is some weird, weird shit going on with whatever program you happen to be using. Something is definitely wrong there.

I am writing it so what ever is wrong, it's due to me. I only just added the "if this parent is parasitised" check to the reproduction part so that will probably be why.
