True, like with all very large predators, there's only so much training that'll probably stick, but I do think they can at least be prevented from killing random bystanders, since her family had much bigger dragons in the past and seemed to keep them under control. But probably all the records of how to manage dragons were lost with time, so poor Dany's got nothing to go on but guesswork.

It's a tough situation...but she definitely let them get away with too much and she should have done some training/disciplining. As you said, her ancestors had bigger, badder dragons - if only any instructions were left to her. :( Regardless, that was a rough scene.

I have to wonder though, does she have much experience in training any animals? What little I do know seems to indicate her early life was lived more or less on the run from assassins. That may not have given her any time to keep, and more importantly raise and train pets.

That's also true. If she was going on 'instinct' she may not have realized 'coddling and no discipline will probably make these dragons monsters'. >.< I take the 'consistent discipline and affection' thing for granted, I suppose. Though, with a life that tough, and all that time she spent with the Dothraki, I can't imagine that she didn't pick up something...though, again, we can't be sure.

It's all for the shock and angst anyway. lol

Is my memory/reading comprehension failing me, because I was left with the impression that it was a plot against Dany (the kid being burned) and that it was unclear if Drogon even did it - and I was left with the impression that he didn't do it, but since Dany didn't know it so he chained him up.

That was my first impression, too! But I'm not sure anymore, because Dany's at the part of her story where her own real mistakes are catching up with her, so it's as likely that her negligence with her dragons are to blame as it's a plot against her.
