That book managed to stab fans of Starfire through the heart. And left Jason and Roy fans realizing that their hopes that some of their pre-reboot disasters be undone were laughably naive. Instead we got a Roy that seemed just as fragged up as the RoA one (although at least not a villain!), Jason carrying on being treated the same as always, and the Starfire mockery.

I'm not reading any DC anymore, but at least she's apparently remembered Dick now? Although I've also heard he's no longer a Mask so...um...*headdesk*

Yeah, he got forcibly unmasked in Forever Evil (which has really redeemed New 52 for me, just FYI)

Forever Evil or the unmasking of Dick specifically?

Forever Evil. As DC events go, FE is one of the better ones. I like it almost as much as Final Crisis (which I liked so much I got it in hardcover.)

Would you mind explaining why in a nutshell? Spoilers are fine. I'm very "fool me twice" with DC right now, except it's been shame on me a whopping 3 times so far. At the same time I miss certain characters far more than I should given their status as fictional and know damn well I'm not getting the old ones back unless DC does a reverse Ultimate Universe thing (and I gave up that hope months ago...)

Forever Evil basically serves as the culmination of 2 years' worth of world-building. (This is what happens when Geoff Johns is creative lead.) All sorts of plot threads from various sections of the DCnU tie together into a single huge event -- tie-ins included, most of which thankfully aren't terrible outside of Villains Month. Starting from the original Darkseid invasion in the first Justice League arc, several characters and events lead into FE -- everything from Swamp Thing's involvement with Rotworld (which was great btw) to Steve Trevor's character development in his associations with the Justice League and the later US-sanctioned Justice League of America, to Constantine's crooked path with the JL Dark, and so on.

I ended up being a voracious reader of New 52 and Forever Evil feels like a reward for that. Much like how Final Crisis felt like a reward for reading 25 years of the old DCU.

Ah. So probably not a good place for someone who has hated 2/3rds of it to the point of being unable to enjoy the rest to try to reintegrate, then? :p

Depends on what you hated, I guess?
