To be honest, it's one of the only pairings that really makes sense to me on the show (although admittedly I haven't seen much of it past season 3 so take that for what it's worth). I think part of that is that they're not actually thrown together by the show. Something about the way Community writes romantic relationships makes them dysfunctional and hard for me to root for.

If you do step across the abyss, forego season 4 and go directly to 5.

Agreed. Five is worth watching, it was as good as the first season.
