I know what you mean OP, although my best friend tends to show his negativity more intermittently so it isn't quite as obnoxious. Is this a recent thing or have they always been like that?

They have always been an angry negative person, but I've never been bothered by it so much in the past, Maybe I didn't notice then? This hasn't really happened until just recently. But it's been going on for a while now and I'm getting tired of it. I feel like a pretty crap friend but man there's only so much I can take before it starts to get obnoxious and it makes it harder for me to be positive.

If you are in this position, I found what helped a bit was distancing myself enough to where it isn't super suspicious but I don't have to deal with them that much; grant it, we can spend several days without texting each other or whatever, so that might have been helping a lot.

I've been thinking about doing this actually. It might make me a little stir crazy since I'm so used to talking regularly but the bad vibes have to ease up.
