I've read it many, many, MANY times, AND ENJOYED IT THANK YOU VERY MUCH, though I do not condone what Covenant did, nor did the author.

Every subsequent book in the series heaped more terrible consequences on Covenant and everybody around him for that act. It most certainly was not forgotten, excused or dismissed as inconsequential. The man suffered the torment of the damned for what he did, and by Hell he knew he'd done wrong, regretted it bitterly and went to the most extreme lengths imaginable to try to make what amends he could. But I'm sure you quit reading long before you found out any of that.

And it's fucking rude to call people names because they recommended something to you that is not to your taste, particularly if they weren't aware that this is a hot-button topic for you. (If they did know and went ahead and recc'ed it anyway, that's a bit different, but you didn't say one way or the other.)
