In one of my fandoms it's died down a lot. But I can still remember the frustration with some dickheads.

Sometimes I wish people's reactions to characters they didn't like was more "Mneh I don't care for them" and less "There's GOT to be a way I can argue that this character is a Mary Sue, they MUST be a Sue" or complaining constantly about how "this character should die/not exist in the canon because I just don't like them".

(I've seen both happen)

I've seen both happen too. Although I don't go into character hate tags (if there are any) Anyone who posts hate in the main tag are fair game.
