...yes that works great.

If you live ten years in the past.

No, seriously, I tried that oh last year, and every signal place either refused to take it and told me to fill out stuff online or took it and told me no one ever looked at them.

It worked for me. How many places did you go to?

For place that only do online applications, fill out the application, then go in person so you can say something to the effect of "I applied online, but wanted to express my interest in person." It can turn into an impromptu interview, or you can run into a wall, but it's worth a shot.

And I just realized you are both are probably thinking of nice white collar jobs that some of us have been shut out of even WITH college degrees. Yeah guess what most retails jobs throw out resumes and the managers get pissy for being interrupted.

I work at a retail job, and at least where I work that's not true at all. My shop only takes online apps, but my managers will single out suitable looking candidates when they come in, write down their name and tell the recruiters who look through the online apps to keep an eye out for that person. In fact, that's how I got my job.

Actually, I've gotten a couple of retail jobs by going in an introducing myself to the manager. But it's becoming clear that you want to vent, not get advice. I can respect that.

When I lost my nice white collar job, I went and applied to JC Penney's in person. They apparently kept an eye out for my online application because I got that job.

Being unemployed sucks, but why are you taking it out on people who have been where you are and are trying to help you?
