Re: Stuff you could stand to see less of in your fandom

Oh GOD yes. An occasional AU setting is fine, if the premise is interesting, but there is an overwhelming explosion of modern day settings AUs especially for genre media (sci-fi, fantasy, etc.), which really seems like authors are too lazy to set it in the fictional world of the show/book/movie/whatever. The fandom that notably subverts this is Harry Potter, and I believe that is because most people in the fandom wish they could live in that world.

However, I would be interested to see more media with a modern day setting to be given an SFF twist in fic.
