Well you see she put her life ahead of his tv plans and forced him to do what might have been almost as much as some minor rewrites of her character. How inconsiderate of her. Actresses get pregnant all the time, in fact if you hire an actress who is aged between 25 and 45 it is as close to a dead cert that she'll get pregnant as you can get, Whedon just never bothered to think about the possibility and how every other fucking show out there had developed ways to deal with possibility and work around it. He just went for the meanest way possible to deal with it out of petty revenge on the actress and petty spite to the audience.

It is funny, there is almost this item of faith within the Whedon fanbase (especially the Firefly subset) that Whedon is this groundbreaking feminist writer, but if you look at his work it is entirely unsupportable. It is all about writing to his fetishes.
