We won't see Ser Pounce again. That was apparently his first and last appearance.

I though they said for that season (so not sure about the next). Apparently this cat wasn't that easy to handle and they wanted to "recast" it, of whatever it's called with animals.

GoT has lots of feelings about cats. Including tinfoil theories that the mean old tom Arya caught for Syrio is sekritly an ancient Targaryen warg.

Well, the cat is possibly supposed to be Balerion, Rhaegar's cat (that stole Tywin's food off his table at a wedding--I think his, actually). And that's feasible.

I guess that just morphed into THIS IS A SUPER IMPORTANT CAT OKAY.

So many missing cats. Did they have the big tom back in the first season for Arya to chase? I don't remember anymore.

Yes, in 1x05:



I don't think we got quite as much of the backstory there (working her way up to the old tom), because the scene was more about Arya finding the secret passages she'll escape through later, and then overhearing Varys and Illyrio plotting stuff.
