I loved the idea of GC but between being confused at what was going on when they hadnt robotted it up in like two episodes and her I just stopped at number 3 I think.

My memory of this is hazy but I think it's that everyone else is entertaining enough that you can sort of overlook her one-noteness.

Although my appreciation for her increased after the director's cut ending (aka the real ending that they ran out of time to complete before broadcast). It seemed like the one perceptible challenge she actually went through.

Yeah, I'm kinda torn on Hajime. There are some points in the show where I really like her (the director's cut of the ending is definitely one) but especially at the start of the show she annoyed me and I almost dropped the show because of it.

I don't care for this character, but she isn't what made me grit my teeth whenever the anime club showed a GC episode:

This show suffers from horrible plotting. Rather than showing off those great special effects and USING those awesome robots, 90% of any episode is dedicated to the characters dialoguing or monologuing in a way that is supposed to be deep and philosophical, but comes off as word salad. Sorry, the writers aren't skilled enough to pull off deep in a coherent manner that also advances the plot. Just fight the damn robots already.
