Stupid shit on the internet that makes you upset

(Anonymous) 2014-06-25 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, so I live in Connecticut, and there's this old rollercoaster at Six Flags New England that's closing, and a local news station did a story on it and put it in "Connecticut News." Six Flags is just over the border in Massachusetts.

Well, this crazy dude who's got his head up New York City's ass is bitching about it and how the news station has a duty (a DUTY, I tell you!) to represent him as a resident of New Haven. And he's all "New England isn't a real region" and "you fail Connecticut by trying to connect us to Boston! You should be talking about NYC and Long Island" and "Great Adventure is our local Six Flags, not Six Flags New England!"

And I'm like, wtf? New England is definitely fucking real; Great Adventure is TWICE THE DISTANCE from New Haven that Six Flags New England is, so how the fuck is that one more "local"; and how are you gonna say that Boston has nothing to do with Connecticut but then say that New York City has everything to do with Connecticut?

But I'm also like "why am I so pissed off about this? It's a loon on the internet. It doesn't matter. Just let it go, self."

SO TELL ME YOUR THING. Tell me about a time when you knew something didn't matter and that it made no sense for you to be upset, but you were upset, anyway.

Pretty much anything about my state that makes national news.

It's *always* only half the story - and they always report it in a way to make it "LOL, THIS STATE IS STUPID AGAIN"...and ignore the facts that actually make what's going on make sense. [Ex. This year they reported something in a way that made it a race issue...when that didn't actually have much to do with what was going on.]

So yeah, that gets a bit tiring to see time and time again.

Do you live in Kansas? This is what I think whenever my state makes the news. (Kansas.)

Nope,a bit further south [Texas], but it's nice to hear that it seems to be a common-ish thing.

I don't think that's stupid at all. I think it makes perfect sense that you would be annoyed by that, as it must suck quite a bit.

No updates on WIPs I check on. Notably no new chapters on Circles of Rust. It feels like a huge long prelude to the main events and nothing really happen, so I do hope for an update. So irritating.

Anytime I accidentally click on a Newsvine board or MSN board and some idiot volunteers political talk (read: bashing) for a story that has NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS.

It makes me want to go JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP AND ENJOY THE GODDAMN MIRACLE BABY STORY ALREADY.

Oh fucking shit, I hate that, too. Those people who have to connect every single story to their politics ("this story reminds me of the time liberals/conservatives ruined everything!"). It's like, dude, not everything in life ties back to your political bogeyman. Chill out and get some perspective.

For some reason, I just imagined a refrigerated drink called 'Perspective.'

"Feeling as though life is kicking you in the shins? GET SOME PERSPECTIVE!"

And then whatever beefy tough dude from the latest action movie jumps into the scene holding a can and giving an over-the-top endorsement... or something...

OMG that would be awesome. Like Powerthirst but with cutting sociopolitical commentary instead (I hope. In my dreams).

That drives me up a wall as well. Glad to see I am not the only one.
