OMG. I read a fic (Charles/Erik AU) once where the characters got together pretty early on. And of course Erik had a sort of shady past with Shaw and such. So I was like, Ugh this is gonna be a thing. BUT IT WASN'T! This is the first fic where it was like the characters DID THE SENSIBLE THING! They communicated, they didn't try to take care of the problem on their own, there was no drama. It was beautiful.
