...get really upset when named users change their icons?

I do. It bothers me so much. It's like if a coworker came into work one day with a completely different face.

I guess this is kind of weird.

I don't get upset exactly, but I feel the same way. Then again, I dislike change in general. The only one who I don't mind changing icons is elaminator, but she changes icons so much in a single day so it doesn't matter. She doesn't seem to have a main icon.

I feel strangely flattered. (Even though you're right, I have so many icons that I doubt anyone associates me with a single one, so it isn't anything personal.)

Not really, though it does throw me off for a while.

If it's Elaminator or Nursejoy or someone else who has a large stable of icons I've learned to recognize them by name, but when it's someone who always uses the same icon suddenly using a different one I do get pretty bothered.

Not really. I find it far more upsetting and confusing as hell when someone (on LJ/DW or Tumblr or Plurk or any other site that allows it) changes their username.

I would be freaked as fuck if someone here changed their username. I feel like I'd never be able to trust them again.

This is where, (on LJ at least, I wish DW would adopt it), that the notes feature is useful for knowing what previous usernames a person's used.

I don't get upset, but I know that feeling. I'm currently feeling this with the Steam group because with a handful of exceptions most people have both a different name and picture than they use here, and I think to myself that they might as well just said they were one of the anon's since I don't feel like memorizing two separate user names for an individual.
